But you don’t have to travel far to find a safe place for a back-to-nature vacation where you can work on an all-over tan.

Indiana’s only all-male clothing-optional lodge and campground, located on 50 acres in beautiful Brown County, is two years old. Lodgings range from tent and RV sites to bunk rooms and suites in the lodge. RV sites cost $35/day; tent sites run $20/day. Room rates vary. Day passes are offered at this private, members-only hideaway for $10. Annual membership dues are $10. Amenities include heated in-ground pool, sundeck, eight-person spa, shower house, 2.5-acre stocked lake, hiking trails, sand volleyball courts, horse shoe pits, croquet, badminton and bocce ball. Nestled in the hills of Switzerland County near Louisville, this rustic, members-only retreat is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, although special winter activities are scheduled. Amenities include an above-ground swimming pool, clubhouse with a kitchen and screened-in porch, chlorinated pond with a sandy bottom, deck for sun-bathing, bath house, children’s play area, whirlpool room and restaurant (open weekends only). This family nudist resort is set on 76 acres in Southern Indiana. Lodgings consist of tent and RV sites with full access to water and electrical hook-ups, and a six-room hotel. Restrooms and heated showers are centrally located. Amenities include a small swimming pool, shelter area, golf cart and walking trails. The restaurant is open May 1 through Oct. 1. Activities include volleyball, badminton, shuffleboard, petanque, horse shoes and organized gatherings, such as dances and cook outs. Single males are welcome when accompanied by a female companion.

Situated on rustic grounds in Northern Indiana, this member-owned, family-oriented, cooperative nudist club emphasizes the outdoors. Founded in 1933, Lake O’ The Woods Club consists of 130 acres of woods and features a 20-acre lake. Lodgings include a clubhouse with kitchen, modern washrooms, co-ed showers, sauna, two fireplaces and meeting room; cabin rental; tent camping; and RV sites with electric, water and dump station. Tent camping costs $10/night and RV camping runs $12/night, both with the seventh night free. Grounds fees are $30/member or $35/non-member. This family-oriented nudist resort located on 88 wooded acres near Chicago in rural Roselawn opened in 1965. Cabins and trailers are also available. Amenities include a 65-by-120 swimming pool with diving board, slide and concrete sunning apron, formal garden and two full-service bath houses. Activities include volleyball, tennis, shuffleboard, basketball and horse shoes, plus slides, swings, monkey bars and sand boxes for younger visitors. A dance is held every Saturday evening and other games, contests and activities are regularly scheduled, such as bingo and dance lessons. Members are welcome anytime, visitors between May 15 and Sept. 15. A limited number of singles are admitted.

Dances, dinners and other special events are scheduled throughout the year.
In general, nude resorts are not clothing-optional; nudity is required. Resorts vary from family-oriented to swinger-friendly. Know what to expect before you go.
